PARTICIPANT POLICIES & RELEASES

By completing a registration form and participating in Portland Plays Together programs, tournaments, events, workshops, clinics, and community activities, participants acknowledge that they have reviewed and agree to the policies below.

PARTICIPANT LIABILITY WAIVER & ASSUMPTION OF RISK

Acknowledgment of Risk

Participation in soccer, futsal, street football, tournaments, athletic activities, workshops, community events, and related programming involves inherent risks that cannot be completely eliminated.

These risks may include, but are not limited to:

• Falls, collisions, and physical contact
• Sprains, strains, fractures, concussions, and other injuries
• Illness, medical emergencies, or unforeseen health conditions
• Property loss or damage
• Risks associated with transportation, weather, facilities, equipment, or playing surfaces

Participants voluntarily choose to participate and knowingly assume all risks associated with participation.

Release of Liability

In consideration for being allowed to participate in Portland Plays Together programs and events, participants release, waive, and hold harmless:

• Portland Plays Together
• L'Atelier Yaffe
• Futbarrio
• Event sponsors and partners
• Coaches, volunteers, and staff
• Property owners and venue operators
• Vendors and contractors
• Affiliated organizations

from any and all liability, claims, demands, damages, causes of action, losses, costs, or expenses arising out of or related to participation in any Portland Plays Together activity.

This release applies to the fullest extent permitted by Oregon law.

Participant Certification

By completing registration, participants certify that:

• They are physically capable of participating.
• They understand the risks involved.
• They voluntarily choose to participate.
• They have reviewed and agree to this waiver.

MEDICAL CONSENT & EMERGENCY AUTHORIZATION

Medical Information

Participants are responsible for providing accurate emergency contact information and disclosing relevant medical conditions, allergies, injuries, or other considerations during registration.

Emergency Medical Authorization

In the event of injury, illness, or medical emergency during participation in Portland Plays Together activities, participants authorize event staff, volunteers, coaches, and emergency personnel to obtain emergency medical treatment deemed necessary if emergency contacts cannot be reached immediately.

Every reasonable effort will be made to contact emergency contacts prior to treatment whenever possible.

Participants acknowledge that they are responsible for any medical costs incurred as a result of treatment.

PARTICIPANT CODE OF CONDUCT

Portland Plays Together is committed to creating safe, inclusive, and welcoming spaces where people from all backgrounds can connect through play.

Respect

Participants agree to:

• Treat players, coaches, officials, staff, volunteers, and spectators with dignity and respect.
• Encourage teammates and support positive competition.
• Respect differences in culture, identity, ability, and background.

Sportsmanship

Participants agree to:

• Play fairly and honestly.
• Follow tournament rules and organizer instructions.
• Respect referee and event staff decisions.

Safety

The following behaviors are prohibited:

• Fighting or physical aggression
• Bullying, intimidation, or harassment
• Racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, or discriminatory language
• Threatening behavior
• Illegal drug use or possession
• Any conduct that compromises participant safety

Community Responsibility

Participants agree to:

• Respect facilities, equipment, and event spaces.
• Dispose of trash properly.
• Help create a positive environment for youth, families, and community members.

Enforcement

Portland Plays Together reserves the right to:

• Issue warnings
• Remove participants from matches
• Remove spectators from event grounds
• Suspend or prohibit future participation

for violations of this Code of Conduct.

PHOTO, VIDEO & MEDIA RELEASE

Portland Plays Together documents programs and events through photography, video, interviews, storytelling, and media production.

By participating in Portland Plays Together activities, participants grant permission for Portland Plays Together, L'Atelier Yaffe, Futbarrio, event sponsors, partners, media organizations, and affiliated organizations to photograph, record, film, or otherwise capture their image, likeness, voice, artwork, or participation.

These materials may be used for:

• Social media
• Websites
• Marketing and promotional materials
• Grant and sponsorship reporting
• Educational materials
• Documentary and storytelling projects
• News coverage
• Future community outreach and fundraising efforts

Participants understand and agree that:

• No compensation will be provided for use of these materials.
• Materials may be edited or modified.
• Materials may be used indefinitely.
• Participants waive any right to inspect or approve final content.

Portland Plays Together may capture general crowd, atmosphere, and wide-angle event photography and video for documentation purposes.
